A walk in the park. That’s all we were out for. Just a quick walk before dinner. On the way past the park, we happened to see a couple of pooches we hadn’t seen in the neighborhood before. Resources

Below are some helpful links. We also encourage people to share any resources they have found helpful. Please submit suggestions in the comments sections or email us at contact@dogadoptionhq.com.

Websites

PetFinder - A great place to browse for dogs available for adoption.  You can specify the size, breed, location, just about anything you can imagine.  Fair warning, it may be difficult not to fall in love with a new best friend if you venture onto this site.

American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals - A great place to both find dogs in desperate need of a home as well as information on animal curelty, shelters and ways you can help.  If you already have an adopted pet, check out their store.  It has some great items, from clothing, to car decals to collars and leashes.

Humane Society of the United States - This is a fantastic resource for information on shelters and ways to help.  As with the ASPCA, they have a lot of information on all animals, not just pooches, but they also have a directory of adoptable pets.

Dog Forum – A wonderful online community of dog owners and lovers.  If you have questions or thoughts about dogs and dog adoption, someone would be happy to listen here.  If there isn’t already a thread started about the topic on your mind, start a new one and watch your fellow dog lovers respond!

American Kennel Club – The American Kennel Club is the authority on dog breeds.  While we don’t personally have a desire to own AKC registered dogs, we understand that many dog owners out there are searching specifically for breeds and dogs that are recognized by the AKC.  The club does do some great things for dogs and even has a great section on breed specific rescues that we strongly recommend if you are searching for a certain breed!
